For those of you returning to college, welcome back from spring break. For those of you who just finished high school, welcome to university life. There is a lot to do on the first day of class and I thought it would be helpful to tell you a little about what you should expect.
On the first day, we have to help you learn how to use this website, how to write a proper email, introduce you to the goals and requirements of your course, provide you with some basic phrases that will help you to communicate with me, and get a general sense of your English ability. It’s a lot to do in one class but we should be able to finish everything.
It is important for you to remember that you need to actively participate in every class. Most of your class time will be spent working with other students not listening to me talk. Try not to be shy about asking questions. It makes me happy when students ask questions. Another important thing to remember is that you need to take good notes in every class and always review before coming to class. This will help you to learn more and remember more. I will provide you with a note template that can help you to take good notes. I will explain more on the first day of class.
