I’ve been exploring alternatives to WordPress which means that I have installed a number of different Content Management Systems (CMS) onto my hosted server. So far, I have tried to install GetSimple, Drupal, TextPattern, Concrete5, ProcessWire, and Pico. None of these were successful. The problems ranged from failed installations to troublesome (for a beginner like me) content management, as in creating pages that worked on both a PC and mobile device. While deleting some installation files using Cyberduck, I stupidly clicked on my WordPress folder and then watched it slowly disappear one file at a time. Fortunately, the web hosting service has an excellent backup and restore plan, which has restored the site. Lucky for me.
