It’s Golden Week and I’ve spent the last two days working: grading assignments, preparing for classes, working on the website, and getting ready for my PanSIG 2015 presentation on Confirmation Bias in Teacher Narratives . Still lots to do to get ready, but so far it’s been challenging applying what I learned from Daniel Kahneman’s Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow about cognitive biases. I have had to look at how confirmation bias affects how I perceive my classes and myself. It’s been difficult slowing down and questioning what I think and feel, but I feel I am making good progress in limiting my judgments and restructuring them as observations. More on this later.
